Article I – Membership

1.1. Terms of Membership

Any organized football or soccer club or team individual, business or organization that wishes to support the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association™ stated purpose may become a member of this Association by agreeing to subscribe to the mission, purpose, rules and regulations and to pay the annual fee of this Association.

1.2 Qualifications for Membership 

Premium Club/Team Membership

Our high-level, premium membership package is ideal for:

  • Clubs/Teams who annually attend an IGLFA sanctioned event.
  • Clubs/Teams who wish to actively participate in the decisions made by IGLFA.
  • Clubs/Teams who have a longer history with IGLFA.
  • Clubs who have 2 or more teams and/or more than 50 members.

Benefits
  1. Eligibility to be nominated for an office on the Executive Board of Directors;
  2. Eligibility to serve on both Standing and other committees of the Board.
  3. Participation in Association sponsored events, subject to provisions in the By-Laws and the rules and regulations governing games and tournament play;
  4. Attendance at all meetings of the general membership and at special meetings as designated by the Board. An Associate member may not vote on business at meetings;
  5. Participation in Association sanctioned tournaments as a referee consistent with current license rating and qualifications.
  6. Two (2) representatives in the House of Delegates (2.3); receiving one (1) vote per representatives during any meeting of the general membership;
  7. Sole power to amend the Constitution and/or By-Laws.
  8. Five individual memberships including full rights and responsibilities.
  9. A free website (to develop as you see fit) .  The website will also include league planning software.
  10. Six IGLFA soccer balls and two (2) pair of Goalie Gloves (no specific vendor)
  11. Access to “Community Grants” of $500 for events specific to LGBTQ issues (funds can be used for refreshments (non alcoholic) or as security for a venue.
  12. Discounts on clothing/kits/jerseys etc. for purchasing through the IGLFA store

Standard Club/Team Membership

Our entry-level, standard membership package is ideal for:

  • Teams who may be newly forming and looking for players.
  • Smaller teams or groups who gather on a more social level to play football.
  • Teams who do not plan on traveling to an international IGLFA event, but want to be part of the LGBT football community.

Our Referee Membership is ideal for:

  • Certified and locally registered referees who support the IGLFA mission and values.
  • Referees who would like to take part in an IGLFA sanctioned event.

Article II – The House of Delegates (The House)

2.3 Membership to the House

The House of Delegates shall be comprised of two (2) representatives from each Premium Member club as selected by that Premium Member club from its IGLFA registered membership.

Each representative shall be a voting member of the House.  Premium and Standard Members of the Association shall not be considered members of the House.  In the event a Premium member is unable to send a representative to a House of Delegates meeting, including the Annual General Meeting, that Premium Member may designate an alternate representative.  Such designation shall be delivered in writing to the Chief Operations Director of the Association prior to the meeting

Article III – Executive Board of Directors (The Board)

3.2 Membership to the Board

The Board of Directors shall be comprised of seven (7) elected Officers of the Association and the appointed members of the Board.

3.4 Terms of Office for Elected Officers of the Board.

One term for Board office is two (2) years.  The President, Communications Director, Business Development Director, Financial Director, Operations Director, Membership Director, Diversity Director, Referee Director and Regional Directors may serve in the same office for two (2) consecutive terms, or until their successors qualify and are elected.

3.7 Succession of Office

Officers of the Board follow this order in ranking and succession:

The President, Communications Director, Vice President-Business Development, Treasurer, Chief Operations Director, Vice President-Membership, Vice President Diversity, Officer with the longest tenure on the Board

Article IV – Elections

4.2 Nominations

Nominations will be submitted in writing to the Nominations committee at least forty-five (45) days prior to the date of the annual meeting of the House of Delegates.  Additional nominations will be taken on the floor of the Annual General Meeting if the candidate nominated meets all requirements for that office.

The Nominations Committee shall present the candidates to the Board at least thirty (30) days prior to the election.

The nominees for each office shall be presented at the Annual General Meeting.

Article V. – Duties of the Officers

5.1 President

The President shall be responsible for the overall operation of the Association, with the following minimum duties:

  1. Preside at all meetings of the Board and the House;
  2. Present matters to the membership and the Board, as well as representing the Association to outside agencies, groups, and individuals;
  3. Delegate the Vice President to represent the Association to outside agencies, groups, or individuals;
  4. Arrange times for all meetings and activities of the membership and Board;
  5. Vote at all Board and House meetings on issues discussed at those meetings;
  6. Designate one person as the Logistics Officer for the Association with power to sign all contractual obligations on behalf of the association as approved by the Executive Board of Directors and/or the House of Delegates;
  7. Carry out the directives of the House and the Board within the guidelines they set for the purposes they specify;
  8. Supervise the work of the other Officers; and
  9. Assume all other duties that may be assigned by the House, or might be needed to advance the overall interest and growth of the Association.

5.2 Communications Director

The Communications Director shall be responsible for branding, external communications and bulk communications to Members of the Association with the following minimum duties:

  1. Maintain social media presence with regular updates;
  2. Maintain the iglfa.org website to ensure important information is accessible to stakeholders; and
  3. Coordinate and manage public relations on behalf of the Association.

5.3 Business Development Director

Shall assume duties in the absence of the President with these minimum additional duties:

  1. At the direction of the President, represent the Association at other functions;
  2. Assist the President with the overall operation of the Association and supervision of other offices;
  3. Chair at least one Standing Committee (6.0) and other committees as directed by the House;
  4. Vote at all Board and House meetings on issues discussed at those meetings;
  5. Assume additional duties as assigned by the President, the Board, or the House.

5.4 Operations Director

Shall perform duties as directed by the President; the COD shall maintain all informational records for the Association, and have the following minimum duties:

  1. Maintain minutes of all Board and House meetings;
  2. Maintain the Constitution, By-Laws, and policy and procedure manual along with any amendments, additions, and changes;
  3. Maintain information regarding the membership, including registration cards, waivers-of- liability from Association events with the assistance of the other officers;
  4. Notify the membership of any meetings;
  5. Keep an archive of Association events: statistics, results, participant lists, and memorabilia.
  6. Assist all Officers with Association correspondence;
  7. Vote at all Board and House meetings on issues discussed at those meetings; and
  8. Assume duties that may be assigned from the President, the Board or the House.

5.5 Financial Director

Shall maintain all financial records for the Association, with the following minimum duties:

  1. Maintain control of all financial instruments for the Association, including actual funds, monies, checks, ledgers, and purchase orders;
  2. Present quarterly financial statements;
  3. Ensure that all checks have his/her signature;
  4. Chair the Finance and Fundraising Committees;
  5. Vote at all Board and House meetings on issues discussed at those meetings; and
  6. Assumes all duties as may be assigned by the Co-Presidents, the Board, or the House.

5.6 Membership Director

Shall assume duties in the absence of the President with these minimum additional duties:

  1. At the direction of the President, represent the Association at other functions;
  2. Assist the President with the overall operation of the Association and supervision of other offices;
  3. Chair at least one Standing Committee (6.0) and other committees as directed by the House;
  4. Vote at all Board and House meetings on issues discussed at those meetings;
  5. Assume additional duties as assigned by the President, the Board, or the House.

5.7 Diversity Director

Shall assume duties in the absence of the President with these minimum additional duties:

  1. At the direction of the President, represent the Association at other functions;
  2. Assist the President with the overall operation of the Association and supervision of other offices;
  3. Chair at least one Standing Committee (6.0) and other committees as directed by the House;
  4. Vote at all Board and House meetings on issues discussed at those meetings;
  5. Assume additional duties as assigned by the President, the Board, or the House.
