Mission statement:
The International Gay and Lesbian Football Association (IGLFA) shall foster and augment the self respect of gay women and men throughout the world, and engender respect and understanding from the non-gay world, through the medium of football (soccer). Additionally we work to establish an international network of football clubs and to promote physical and tactical understanding of the game of football.
The IGLFA was founded in 1992 – today, after 19 years, over 80 teams from more than 20 countries from all over the world have become part of this organization. The IGLFA is no longer an Association who exclusively organizes an International tournament each year, it is also involved in many other activities. This includes supporting local organizations like clubs and teams as well as heading the sports coordination of football at the "Federation of Gaygames" . Through our “Outreach” program, we have been able to help teams from Africa and Latin America as well as from Eastern Europe to participate at our tournaments.
